The purpose of this study was to determine the construct validity and reliability of Persian version of the Athletes Coping Strategies Questionnaire in Competitive Sport. A number of 258 athletes (108 male and 158 female) were selected and completed the questionnaire. Confirmatory Factor Analysis and discriminate validity and Cronbach Alpha Coefficient were used to determine the construct validity and internal consistency. The results showed that the first model of coping strategies questionnaire in competitive sport (39 questions) was not favorable fit indexes. After eliminating the four questions of the social withdrawal factor, the second model with 35 questions had acceptable fit index and internal consistency. MANOVA test results also showed significant differences in using the coping strategies of thought control, mental imagery, logical analysis, and disengagement /resignation between elite and sub-skilled groups and between skilled and sub-skilled groups and inventing of unpleasant emotions between elite and sub-skilled groups. These findings suggest that the modified Persian version of Athletes Coping Strategies Questionnaire in Competitive Sport has appropriate psychometric properties.

Sport achievement demands for a holistic, multidimensional, and interactive view to describe “elite athletes” from various view points such as physical capabilities, mental skills, personality characteristics, technical skills, and tactical skills. Previous Studies have introduced various factors explaining sport achievement; yet, this phenomenon has not been explained thoroughly based on related theories and models. The present study based on dynamical systems viewpoint, achievement goal theory, arousal, deliberate practice theory, dualistic model of passion, and self-regulation model, reviewed the effective factors in sport achievement. Using an analytical review based on evidence, the result of the present study may be used in identifying the effective factors in sport achievement and elite athletes’ characteristics. They can also be used in development of a comprehensive tool for measuring sport achievement.

The Purpose of the present study was to determine relationship between IQ levels with physical fitness factors in students with Intellectual Disability (ID). A number of 355 students (n=160 males and 195 females) with intellectual disability (mean age:16-22 years) were selected from all of the ID students in pre-vocational and vocational schools in Tehran (n=1663).To measure physical fitness level, Eurofit Special Battery Tests was used. Students IQ level & medical history were collected from school educational, counseling, and health documents. Findings from Spearman correlation coefficient indicated that except flexibility, there were significant relationship between IQ levels with other physical fitness factors. It means that, the higher IQ leads to better performance in cardiorespiratory endurance, muscle strength, balance walk, strength & speed tests. Since PE classes are held jointly, regardless of IQ level; therefore, it is suggested to train any type of physical activity & sport, as well as the design of training programs, abilities of individuals with different levels of IQ to be considered.

Statistics population was older adults in urban area of Esfahan from which 293 persons selected. Data collected with demographic questionnaire and Multidimensional Outcome Expectations for Exercise Scale. Data analyzed with Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Chronbach's Alpha. The findings indicated that Persian translated of Multidimensional Outcome Expectations for Exercise Scale had 3 factors with eigenvalue over 1 that explained 48.6, 17.1, and 9.3, and in total about 75% of whole variance. Internal consistency calculated with Chronbach's Alpha yielded correlation .83, .84, .83, and .87 for subscales 1, 2, 3, and total scale, respectively. In general, the results confirmed validity and reliability of Persian translated version of the Multidimensional Outcome Expectations for Exercise Scale. The scale can be used for research, educational, and clinical purpose.

The purpose of this study was to compare the amount of aggression and isolation between athlete and non-athlete orphan teenagers (10-18 years) in Tabriz. In this causal-comparative research, 150 subjects were selected randomly from the orphanage of Tabriz. Data were collected using Bass and Perry aaggressiveness qquestionnaire and a Self-structured questionnaire for isolation. The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were evaluated by author. Data was analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics (independent t-test). The results revealed that there were significant differences between the aggression scores and verbal, physical, anger and isolation subscales of athlete and non-athlete orphans, but there was no significant difference in subscales of enmity between the same study groups. According to the results of the present research, it is concluded that the negative effects of aggressiveness on individual and social behaviors of orphan teenagers could be prevented by increasing participation in sport activities.

Guided by self-determination theory, this research aimed to test the linking model of perceptions of the autonomy-supportive and controlling environment, motivation, and intention to continue sport participation in adolescents. Also, the moderator role of sport’s organizational climate was examined. In this descriptive-correlation study, 288 athletes (152 martial and 136 non-martial athletes), with age range from 15-17 years were cluster-randomly selected among Urmia adolescent athletes and were asked to completed the questionnaires. Path Analysis results showed that autonomy-support environment positively predicted autonomous motivation. In turn, autonomous motivation was positively related to intention to continue sport participation. Controlling environment was positively linked to controlled motivation. However, controlled motivation was unrelated to intention to continue sport participation. Perceptions of autonomy-support environment had a significant positive indirect effect on intention to continue sport participation. The moderator role of sport’s organizational climate was not significant in the model. Overall, these findings suggest that regardless of sport’s organizational climate, the autonomy-support environment can lead to more intention to continue sport participation in adolescents via promoting autonomous motivation.
