Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of six weeks of weighted yoga training on job burnout and the physical and mental health status of employed women.
Materials and Methods: The statistical population of this study included female employees working at the Prisoners' Welfare Foundation in Kerman, from whom 30 individuals were selected as the research sample using convenience sampling. They were placed in a pretest-posttest experimental design with a control group. The research instruments included the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire. The experimental group (n=15) performed six weeks of weighted yoga training, while the control group (n=15) had no training program during this period. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) using SPSS version 27 software was employed for data analysis.
Results: The results indicated a significant difference between the two groups in the variables of job burnout and general health, such that the mean scores of general health and the indicators of emotional exhaustion and reduced personal accomplishment were better in the experimental group compared to the control group (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Yoga training can improve physical-mental health and reduce job burnout among employed women. Therefore, exercise and physical activity increase employees' capacity to cope with psychological pressures in the workplace.
