Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the role of sensation seeking and cultural intelligence by mediating the threshold of tolerance in sport violence in football fans. The research method is descriptive-correlational. Among all fans of Sepidrud Rasht and Nasaji Mazandaran teams in the Premier League of 2018-19, 380 were selected by simple random sampling method. Data were collected using Zuckerman's sensation seeking, cultural intelligence, distress tolerance and sport violence questionnaires, and was analyzed using Pearson correlation and path analysis. The results showed that there is a positive relationship between sensation seeking with sport violence, and there is a negative relationship between cultural intelligence and the threshold of tolerance with sport violence. Also, the results showed that the tolerance threshold in the relationship between sensation seeking and cultural intelligence plays a mediating role. Based on the results, it can be said that sport violence in football fans is affected by psychological factors such as the sensation seeking of people and their level of cultural intelligence, which is mediated through their threshold of tolerance and irritability.
