It is highly appreciated that the following guidelines be observed. It should be noted that the received articles on the website are assessed according to these guidelines. Any incongruent case will result in rejection of the article.

  1. Overall principles

1.1.                        The article should be authentic.

1.2.                        Translation of an article is not accepted.

1.3.                        Review articles are only accepted from experienced researchers with at least twenty articles in related topics in local and international journals. The articles should contain topic, analysis, discussion and conclusion. The conclusion should include summary and overall conclusion. Moreover, constructive recommendations for future should be stated. Furthermore, the article should contain rare case reports, issues of the reference, elaboration of the reports, important issues, and past experiences of the researchers. The article should be comprehendible without any necessity to cover previous works.

1.4.                        The letter and short report to the editor-in-chief should entail novel topics.

1.5.                        The number of the authors should not exceed three. The only exception applies for doctoral dissertations in which four authors are permitted to be cited. The confirmation letter of the university should be annexed to the documents as well.

1.6.                        Guidelines for article submission:

The articles should be submitted in the website of the journal at www.spsyj.ssrc.ac.ir as instructed.

1.7.                        The principles of Persian writing should be fully maintained and foreign terms for which there are exact and precise equivalents in Persian should be prohibited.

1.8.                        Content of the article except the page of abstract should be template in two columns with 1 centimeter space between the lines and the margin should be set at 2 centimeters at least. All the text should be typed and the number of the pages should be included.

  1. Article arrangement guidelines

2.1.                        In the main file of the article, the first two pages should be arranged as follows:

2.1.1.                              Persian abstract at the top including the Persian topic and the abstract text along with keywords.

2.1.2.                              English Abstract below including English topic and the abstract text along with keywords.

2.2.                        Topic of the article shouldn’t exceed sixty letters with respect to the space between words.

2.3.                        The number of words for both abstracts should be at most 150. R.pvalue and references for tests or questionnaires and using words, letters and English abbreviations in abstract should be avoided.

2.4.                        Size and font of the text should be arranged as BMitra for the font and 11 for the size. The number of pages should not exceed 15.

2.5.                        The font for all English content should be Times New Roman. The size for English abstract, footnotes, and references should be 9, 8, and 9, respectively.

2.6.                        The main article should contain the following:

2.6.1.                              Introduction: Statement of the problem, significance and importance and purpose of the research with a glance to the previous studies

2.6.2.                              Methodology: accurate elaboration for research plot, population and sample, instruments and materials for measurement (validity and reliability of the instruments and tests), and statistical methods

This section is categorized as methodology, participants, instruments, data collection procedure, and statistical method.

2.6.3.                              Results: Full elaboration of research findings

2.6.4.                              Discussion: elaboration of important issues regarding findings and comparing them with the findings of other studies and justifying and analyzing the similar or challenging findings, statements for the potential use of findings and ultimately concluding and recommending on the base of research findings

2.6.5.                              At the end of the article, two paragraphs should be included. The first one should deal with what we knew so far about the topic of the research and what the current article provide us with.

2.7.                        The file including the information of authors such as topic of the article, full name of authors, academic statue and affiliation, financial supporters, venue of the article, corresponding author and his/her email (in footnote) should be arranged. In research plotted articles, the number of contract should not be stated in every page. The full name of authors should be written in English and Persian.

  1. Guidelines for article writing and citations

3.1.                        The article should be devoid of any grammatical or literal error.

3.2.                        After a comma, a space should be put before the following word. The same should not be applied for before the comma.

3.3.                        The full-stop is attached to the preceding sentence. After the full-stop, a space should be put before the next word is written.

3.4.                        English words should not be in the Persian text. Instead, write the Persian equivalent and include the abbreviations such as SPSS in the footnote.

3.5.                        The font for footnotes should be set and New Times Roman 8. After the number of the footnote, a full-stop and a space should proceed. The words and numbers should be aligned. For this purpose, click the subscript twice.

3.6.                        The first name in citations or footnotes should be avoided. Second name should instead be stated.

3.7.                        In the text, whenever parenthesis is needed, there should be a space for both before and after the parentheses, e.g. Schmidt (2004), …

3.8.                        In citation inside the text, assigning a number in the footnote for each scholar is not compulsory. All of the names can be written consecutively, separated with “,” and put “and” before the last name. The number of footnote should be put for the last name. The same consecution should be observed in the footnote.

3.9.                        Inside the text, cite as follows: second name of the scholar, year of publication, e.g. (VaezMousavi, 2015, p. 42).

3.10.                    Since the written by one author are all listed in reference according to the year of publication, whenever two works are published in one unit of the time, there should a letter be accompanied to indicate the consecution, e.g. (VaezMousavi, 2015a, p. 35).

3.11.                    In articles with two authors, as for each citation, state the name of both and include year and page number as well (Winberg and Gold, 2002, p. 16).

3.12.                    In articles with three to five authors, name of all should be stated at the first citation. Thereafter, the name of the first is stated with “et al" and the number of page.

3.13.                    If the article is written by six authors, in all the citations, the name of first author is stated along with “et al".

3.14.                    For books translated into Persian, the name of main author, the word “translation” and name of translators and publication date should be stated.

3.15.                    When the citation refers to two references or more, the references inside the parentheses should be stated from right to left according to time and separated with “;”.

  1. Guidelines for references

The references used in the article should be arranged according to APA manual as follows:

4.1.                        The number of Persian and English references should not exceed 36.

4.2.                        All the Persian references should be written in English, e.g. VaezMousavi, M., and Mousavi, A. (2015). Effective factors in sport achievement based on related theories and models. Journal of Sport Psychology Studies, 10; Pp: 25-50. In Persian

4.3.                        At the end of the article, the references should be ordered alphabetically.

4.4.                        Article: second name and first letter of the first name of author(s), year, topic, journal, volume, page.

4.5.                        Book: second name and first letter of the first name of author(s), year, topic, number of edition, place, publisher

4.6.                        Translated book: second name and first letter of the first name of author(s), source text publication year, topic, full name of the translator(s), translation year, number of edition, place, publisher.

4.7.                        Websites: URL address, full date of review

4.8.                        Theses and research reports: Full name of executor(s), year, topic of thesis, dissertation, or report, place of presentation.

4.9.                        Name of the journal or journal should be typed in italic.

4.10.                    Persian years should be changed into Christian years.

4.11.                    Pictures, graphs, and tables should be fully elaborated in the main text and numbered. The graphs and plots should be original, precise and clear. The tables should be arranged without any length line and some width line (preferably three).

 

  Long abstract should be submitted via journal website in order to issue acceptance letter. Based on the vision of department of research journals of Sport Sciences Research Institute of Iran, in line with the objective of qualifying and indexing the institutes' publications in internationally validated databases and  in order to increase position and validation of the journal in national and international scientific references as well as official  rating and validation systems, the English long abstract (1000 words) must be provided in the latest revised version of the manuscript emphasizing on materials, methods, and results.  If literary editing of the long abstract will be needed, the corresponding author himself is responsible to send it to translation office.

It should be added that long abstract is allowed to be contain of just one table or chart. Keywords, references, chart and table are not included in 1000 words.
