Abstract

The purpose of this study was to survey the relationship between parenting styles and physical activity levels, among students.The statistical population is composed of entire students in city of Rasht in Iran (21150) which was selected 704 adolescent as samples. The instrument to gather the data were physical activity Questionnaire (PAQ-A) and Parenting Style Inventory II (PSI-II).The reliability was measured by Cronbach's Alpha (α=0.78, α=0.83). The data were analyzed through some statistics techniques such as Pearson correlation coefficients and t–test. Findings showed that there were significant correlation between the indices physical activity levels and Authoritative in Fathers and Mothers. Also, The result of the study showed significant difference between physical activity levels students of boy and girl. Therefore, the amount of physical activity, high school students of Rasht, not related to parents parenting style. Probably due to the relative independence of this age may be other factors such as parental attitudes toward their physical activity or sports participation rates these areas is effective.
