Translation and Psychometric Properties of Persian Version of "Exercise Addiction Inventory-Short Form"

Abstract
The study design to validate Persian translated of "Exercise Addiction Inventory-Short Form". Statistics population was premier athletes of Arak's clubs in year 1392 from which 286 persons selected randomly. Data collected by demographic charachtristics and "Exercise Addiction Inventory-Short Form" questionnaire. After translation of the Inventory, content validity confirmed by 5 physical education experts, and final Persian version developed. Confirmatory factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficient, and Choronbach's alpha used to analysis of data. Confirmatory factor analysis resulted in 2 factor extraction that explained 58% of variance. Factors 1 and 2 named "importance and salience of exercise role" and "psychological outcomes of exercise", respectively. Test-retest correlation 0.72 to 0.85, Choronbach's alpha 0.80 to 0.82, interclass reliability 0.85 and split-half reliability was 0.78. According these results, Persian translated of "Exercise Addiction Inventory-Short Form" is a valid and reliable tool for sport, educational, research and clinical purposes.
