Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between dimensions of perfectionism and self-efficacy in two groups of participant in aerobic classes and those who have not participated in this class. For this purpose 50 female students in the Tehran University who participant in aerobic classes based on the samples available were selected. 50 other individuals randomly recruited from the community. To measure perfectionism “positive and negative perfectionism scale” and to measure self- efficacy “self-efficacy scale” were used. T-test results showed that two groups only in negative perfectionism were significantly different. Test results also showed that there is significant positive correlation between self-efficacy and positive perfectionism and there is significant negative correlation between self-efficacy and negative perfectionism. This results show that participation in aerobic activities, though may not lead to improvements in characteristic associated with positive perfectionism, but reduce characteristic associated with negative perfectionism.
