Effect of Competitiveness on Motor Speed: Evidence for Applying Social Cognitive Findings in Sport

Abstract
Competitiveness is a base of sport success that represent in social situations. The purpose of present study is evaluation of correlation between competitiveness and motor speed. In this cross sectional study, forty five student of Shahid Beheshti University performed a motor speed task in three situations of alone and with one or three competitor. One Way ANOVA is used for analysis. Findings show that with increasing number of competitor motor speed is increased (P< 0.01). Competitive atmosphere is a factor that influences motor function. So, the performance in the skills in which movement velocity is important, would be enhance when competitive atmosphere increases.
