Abstract

The purpose of this research was to design a model of the mediation role of quality of life in the causal relationship between sports history and cognitive decline. Among adult men, 396 men aged 55 to 84 years with a history of activities in walking and jogging, slow running, volleyball, bodybuilding, mountain climbing, and football were selected. Subjects completed the 26-question quality of life questionnaire of the World Health Organization - short form, and using the Wechsler working memory software, the subjects' memory was tested. The results showed that quality of life is related to sports history and memory, but not related to the type of sports field of the participants in this study. Also, the results showed that sports history is related to memory, but there is no difference between Participants' memories in different sports. The measurement model drawn in this research is of good quality and the fit of the model is moderate. The quality of life has an indirect effect on the memory of the elderly through mediating the relationship between sports history and memory. However, in the mentioned relationship, sports history is more important than the quality of life.
