Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of physical activity on anxiety due to coronavirus outbreak and cognitive function in adolescent girls. The current research is applied and descriptive- ex post facto research and data collection was online and through a questionnaire. 232 female students (13 to 15 years old) were divided into active and non-active groups (n=116 in each group) Using a physical activity questionnaire in Corona quarantine. Both groups completed the online Corona Anxiety Scale and online stroop task (Persian version). Whitney U-Mann and independent t-test were used to analyze the data. The results showed that psychological and physical symptoms of anxiety caused by the outbreak of coronavirus in active girls were significantly less than inactive girls. Also in the cognitive function, where the interference score and the interference reaction time of the Stroop task were considered; it was found that the cognitive function of the active group was better than the inactive group. According to the results of the study, participating in regular activities with moderate intensity during corona outbreak was an effective way to prevent cognitive and mental disorders such as anxiety caused by corona virus, especially for adolescents.
