Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of emotional fatigue and academic achievement anxiety on optimism and academic burnout.
Methods: The method of this research is descriptive-survey which from the perspective of the purpose is part of applied research and was conducted in the field. The statistical population included all male student-athletes who were active in sports teams on a regular basis, but no information was available on their number. Based on the available sampling method, 200 of them who were active in different sports were selected as the research sample. The instruments of the present study included 4 questionnaires of emotional fatigue, academic achievement anxiety questionnaire, academic optimism questionnaire and academic burnout questionnaire.
Results: According to the results of research model and t-statistic, it was found that emotional fatigue has an effect on academic optimism of -0.596 and academic burnout of 0.805. Also, academic achievement anxiety has an effect on academic optimism of -0.294 and academic burnout has an effect of 0.151.
Conclusion: It is suggested to increase students' optimism and reduce academic burnout, emotional fatigue and anxiety about their academic achievement during the academic year.
