Abstract

Abstract
Introduction: Introduction: Exercise as a non-pharmacological way can help reduce the symptoms of depression with an efficiency comparable to drug therapy and other psychological interventions; Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of a laughter yoga program on depression and life expectancy of women in Isfahan city.
Method: This research was an experimental type with a pre-test and post-test design and a control group. The studied sample were women participating in the classes of Isfahan Red Crescent Centers, who were randomly divided into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group participated in laughter yoga classes for 8 weeks, while the control group did no specific exercise. Data were collected through depression and life expectancy questionnaires and analyzed using statistical analysis.
Results: The results of this study showed that the laughter yoga program was able to significantly reduce the level of depression and increase life expectancy. These positive effects were significantly evident in Isfahan women and were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Findings suggest that teaching laughter yoga for 8 weeks not only helps improve symptoms of depression but also improves the quality of life and hope for the future in participants.
Conclusion: The laughter yoga program can be used as an effective and low-cost solution to reduce depression and increase life expectancy in women.
