Abstract

Background and Aim: The aim of this research was to develop a structural model of the perception of sports success based on sports perfectionism and perceived social support with the mediating role of sports self-regulation on young people with cerebral palsy.
Materials and Methods: The research method was descriptive correlation. Considering various parameters and using Cochran's formula, a statistical population of 305 people was randomly selected from the existent total of 3780 young people with CP type brain damage in Sanandaj city. Four indicators covering perception of sports success, perceived social support, sports self-regulation, and sports perfectionism are considered in data collection. Structural equation model in AMOS software was employed for data analysis.
Results: The results obtained in the research with RMSEA value equal to 0.083 showed that the conceptual model developed in this research is consistent with the experimental data and the variables of perceived social support and sports perfectionism with total effects (direct and indirect) of 0.51 and 56 respectively. 0.0 have the ability to predict and explain the perception of sports success, and sports self-regulation with an effect of 0.28 has an effective role both directly and as a mediator on the perception of sports success.
Conclusions: Self-regulation is an active process during which learners and athletes try to emphasize cognition, motivation, and self-monitoring behavior and control and regulate these activities. He has better control over his movements and, as a result, leads to better sports success.
