Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of ahybrid learning approach—combining Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility (TPSR) and Problem-Based Learning (PBL)—on the sport commitment and team cohesion of adolescent basketball players.
Method: The statistical population of this study included all adolescent female basketball players aged 13 to 16, active in basketball clubs in Isfahan. From this population, 40 athletes were selected via convenience sampling and, following initial matching, were randomly assigned into two groups of 20.The research instruments included the Sport Commitment Scale and the Group Environment Questionnaire. The experimental group received the hybrid learning intervention over twelve 60-minute sessions. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance ANCOVA)via SPSS software (version 26).
Results: The results of the ANCOVA indicated a significant effect of the group on sport commitment (F(1,37)=56.64, P<0.001), with the hybrid training group demonstrating a significantly greater increase in post-test scores compared to the control group. Furthermore, the effect of the group on team cohesion was also significant (F(1,37)=35.45,P<0.001), indicating a greater improvement in this variable for the hybrid group compared to the control group.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that the hybrid training intervention has a significant impact on increasing sport commitment and enhancing team cohesion among athletes. The results demonstrate that, compared to the control group, the hybrid training group exhibited a more favorable performance and status in both variables following the intervention. It is recommended that coaches and sports administrators utilize hybrid training protocols to strengthen the psychological and social dimensions of teams.
